If you looked at sci.lang, for example, you would find that two of the most
frequent posters are near-lunatics with no understanding of historical (or even
synchronic) linguistics, which does not stop them from posting. Would you
expect the *.answers folks to be able to judge that? Or to take the time to
read all the correction followups to see who is and who is not a net.kook?
