Perhaps you could try to find a volunteer to investigate the particular faq.
This person would post in the original groups asking for advice and would
handle the resulting mail and send you a summary. I'd certainly volunteer for
this task for any of the usenet newsgroups I'm an active participant in.
You could probably find the volunteer by mailing to, say, three people who
seem to be active in the newsgroup and knowledgeable about the topic.
