# This is actually an excellent idea. Also, I have some free time coming up
# which I could conceivably devote to the preparation of such an RFC.
#
# What should such a document contain? I would assume a summary of the
# "Introduction to *.answers" document plus additional sections dealing with
# issues not contained, one example being the ideal behaviour of news servers
# with respect to the *.answers newsgroups. Any others?
First things first... Usefor needs to finsh the basic rfc that has been
going on for way tooooo looong.
At that point, additional RFCs can be developed. First a general newsgroup
moderators best practices, then a *.answers moderation informational RFC. If
it is done in any other order we risk having conflicts between documents.
This doesn't mean that it can't be worked on in anticipation of USEFOR
actually producing the base document... There are conflicts in the
Moderators Handbook draft informational RFC with the current draft being
produced in the USEFOR working group. Those will be corrected once a final
version of the USEFOR document is published. I do not expect much time
will be needed to correct the conflicts. The faq-maintainers list might be
a good place to discuss the actual content of the *.answers Moderation RFC.
That way it does not slow down the work of the USEFOR group (which is in a
"last call for changes" situation at present). Maybe 2002 will be a good
year for USEFOR...
