This doesn't surprise me, although I expect tags will work better in a
non-conversational group such as yours. Given your volunteer cabal,
how do you avoid the problem of one person getting several messages
from several volunteers?
We considered using a 'bot to scan for new posters, but the idea
(thankfully) was shouted down as being impersonal, in your face, and
more than slightly insulting. The e-mail volunteer cabal foundered on
the idea of how to make sure people get only one message. And so
we're left with public pointers-- propagation delays still cause
duplicates, though.
