[faq-maintainers] Flamers attacking FAQ-maintainers

Is it common for you other FAQ maintainers to be flamed and generally insulted ?

I maintain an FAQ for alt.culture.malta, I didn't get flamed on
this one, but recently I noticed a problem with an alt newsgroup
- for fanfic - basically most posts in some newsservers were
never making it to certain other groups of newsservers around the
world. I suspect the reason is likely the fact that the group
itself was never properly proposed (newgrouped without discussion),
and it was rmgrouped straight after also, many times, in fact.

I investigated the state of the main ng (unmoderated) for the series and found there was an old faq on the faqs.org site. Years old. It told people to post fanfics on the creative group rather than the main one - some did and their posts didn't get to many sites from what I saw. They
were like islands - some sites were a directed graph allright but some where something else, they didn't communicate at all. Whatever the
cause (probably the rmgroups or the way it was created in the first place), there was and still is a problem.

I thought of writing up a new faq. I thought, somebody else did write
another faq but it doesn't mention these problems at all. I wrote
a brief welcome and where can I find it FAQ, similar to the racmx (x-books) one, listing a few web sites, and other resources of the subject, and where to find the old faq and the other faq I found.
In fact I submitted it to the answers moderation team once I wrote
the first draft.

After I post a question-poll (and I did mention the problem), to see what people would think of this situation with the other creative group, basically do you think it is ok to post fanfics to the main ng, since the creative group has all these problems in my opinion - and I want to see what the group thinks, so I can write that in a new faq I'm writing. I got a number of answers saying they think they would not mind seeing fanfics posted in the main ng (or crossposted). But I started getting many contradictory postings, insults and derogative statements (you're a newbie; you think you're an expert) about (what they called zero-traffic ) groups I write faqs for (alt.culture.malta , soc.culture.europe - you can
hardly call this a zero-traffic group, the malta.* hierarchy) from a certain tmoero@yahoo.com.

Have you got any experience with this type of flaming, when it comes
to gather information from group regulars to keep group preferences
up-to-date in an faq ? I mean, I have killfiled him, but this behaviour is completely absurd. Whoever has a reason should not have to insult
people to prove their reason. Insults only show that the person cannot
explain themselves or has no reason at all.

Regards,
Clyde Meli
