# Kent obviously made a mistake (one I hope he learns from!)

:) Yep... That's an understatement... Not one of my smarter moves... ;)

# by re-rostering
# the transplanted FAQ-Maintainers list -- which IS a legitimate list that has
# been around since 1993 -- from the external database of maintainers, instead
# of the active roster of s*bscribers from the Lyris list four months ago. I
# assume that this is because he wasn't keeping a regular copy of that roster
# offline, but trusting Consensus to keep it, and then when Consensus croaked
# he couldn't get the real roster. :( -- another lesson learned!

I had no control over the Consensus list so I never got a copy. When the
company was bought, the harddisk with the list was put on a shelf with a
corrupted OS. I spent a couple weeks talking with various people there.
They could not get me a recent copy of the list... sigh...

# In the meantime, since the FAQ Maintainers are *allegedly* some of the
# Net's clueful people, could we attempt to behave as if we had a clue? It
# does no good to roar about "SPAM" to hundreds of other list members, thereby
# creating additional spam. If you need to yell at somebody, yell at
#
# owner-faq-maintainers@landfield.com

Good suggestion. I deserve it. I AM being responsive manually removing
anyone that wants to be removed or can't be due to header issues.

And yes, I should have sent an opt-in message out... I thought this
crowd would know why I did what I did and understand... Sorry to all
for the confusion, extra work and mailbox clutter...

I wish there had been a current list of members handy. Had there been
this would not have been necessary.
