Dear fellow dimwits,

Kent obviously made a mistake (one I hope he learns from!) by re-rostering
the transplanted FAQ-Maintainers list -- which IS a legitimate list that has
been around since 1993 -- from the external database of maintainers, instead
of the active roster of s*bscribers from the Lyris list four months ago. I
assume that this is because he wasn't keeping a regular copy of that roster
offline, but trusting Consensus to keep it, and then when Consensus croaked
he couldn't get the real roster. :( -- another lesson learned!

In the meantime, since the FAQ Maintainers are *allegedly* some of the
Net's clueful people, could we attempt to behave as if we had a clue? It
does no good to roar about "SPAM" to hundreds of other list members, thereby
creating additional spam. If you need to yell at somebody, yell at

        owner-faq-maintainers@landfield.com

or just reply to the initial announcement message from Kent - this list IS
set to "reply to sender" rather than "reply to list" by default - so DON'T
use the dumbkopf "Reply to All" button.

Although I agree in principle that we shouldn't have to be doing this
ourselves - Kent should have used a better roster, not dumped everybody in -
if it's THAT gol-durn important to you to leave before Kent fixes it, take
some of that energy you're using to compose indignant complaints, Federal
restraining orders, dire threats, etc, and compose this instead:

        To: majordomo@landfield.com

        uns*bscribe faq-maintainers

(replace the "*" with a "u" above, I didn't want to trigger a filter). Or
ask Kent to do it. Just don't ask US to delete you, we can't.
