That would be one idea. I also like many of the ideas that the fellow
from the netherlands sugested last month. The idea would be to create
some method where those of us who write FAQs could update them while
removing some of the mechanical fidleing that discurages anyone who is
not a four star geek from being able to be fully comfortable posting a
compendium of information.

My summary of that idea is that once a faq is proposed, there would be a
web site which would allow the maintainer to upload the text of the
faq. The site would automagicaly handle the posting - much like
"penquin-lust" does now, but with all the spicial header handles by
automation rather than cut-and-paste into text files that have to be
tricked past modern mail/news clients that are determined to
MIME/BASE64/Quoted-Printable them into something that the existing
software finds incommprehensible.

The abbility to update the text via FTP as well as the web, indeeed via
a e-maiol would be nice additions in my book.

Kent has set up a list at faq-dev@landfield.com to look into what we
should be doing to create the next generation of FAQ service on the
net. I have been very bad and taken the liberty of CC ing the new list.
so that your sugestion can fit in the archives. The list is just
begining with Kent so far having just posted a history of how
"rtfm.mit.edu" became the cantonical reference address.

Please [everyone who is interested] jump into the new list and give us
your ideas.
