Exactly. Actually, what I really wanted was a totally platform-
independent method for producing readable copies in multiple formats with
minimal effort. I regularly work with WinNT, Linux, Solaris, and SunOS 4.
vi and LaTeX run well on all of these platforms.
Last I checked, Winword's attempts at converting files to plaintext and
HTML were miserable at best. Perhaps it has improved, but I still suspect
that the code isn't fully compliant with w3c standards.
(The last thing I wanted to do here was start a "my OS is better than yours"
flamewar...)
