My question to you - does anyone have a good recommendation for how
large a plain-text posting can be?
The FAQ that I maintain has reached about 1Mb. About 1992 I
discovered empirically that one of the news servers upstream from me
would only accept parts that were less than about 64Kb, and I've stuck
with that ever since. As a result, I'm now posting 18 parts. Is the
size of a posting still an issue anywhere? I suspect that posting a
1Mb hunk will Just Not Do but would appreciate any thoughts.
(Just for the record, I maintain the thing in barely marked up form
using HTML markup, and generate both HTML and plain-text with a few
perl scripts.)
Thanks.
chris...
