For what it's worth, I believe you can turn this off easily. I don't
use Netscape myself and I believe the settings dialog can be pretty
different from version to version, but in the copy I have here, it's
in Options > Preferences > Mail and News tab > uncheck "MIME Compliant
(Quoted Printable)" and perhaps make sure "Allow 8-bit" is checked.
(There is still software out there which can't handle 8bit mail
whereas news should be by and large safe. In the case of 7bit mail
servers, your provider's mail software is hopefully intelligent enough
to turn your posting into Quoted Printable if that's required to get
the message across.)
FWIW, Quoted Printable is an encoding where some line wraps wil=
l be =
introduced and some words such as =46rom will be mangled. I hav=
e tried =
to emulate the way it looks in this paragraph. It's readable bu=
t ugly.
