Apologies for bringing ng activities onto this list, but it is to explain
what I intend on doing.

Well Alt.Tv.Xena is currently being actively trolled by a poster, who is
'flooding' the newsgroup with approx. 50-60 articles a day (about 10K
each), each has a similar content (basically homophobic, with a heavy
Christian leaning).

The poster has been informed such posts are not wanted (several times),
some of his early articles were cancelled as they were complete reposted
webpages (complete with the binaries), in a non binary group.

Said poster had an account at Earthlink closed for similar activities in
about a month ago. His Netcom account was closed temporarily for similar
reasons. The ATX regular's now suspect that the said poster is now using
www.talkway.com (a Web based Usenet interface. But with no e-mail
confirmation at all required to join up, not good), to now post the same
articles to the newsgroup. Several abuse mails have been dispatched.
But...

[Originally the homophobic posts were also sent to
alt.religion.christian.cavalry.chapel, in an attempt to provoke the two
groups]

<sic>

[a small 15k homophobic post, one of about 50 on this occasion]

(Wed, 9 Jun 1999 22:07:27 PDT)
</sample article headers>

The headers are being mucked with, as Talkway provides it's own NNTP
posting host header, and the only way from tracing the original IP of the
poster is the X-Client-NNTP-Posting-Host header, which in this and all the
other post's from this troll are uselessly pointing to localhost/127.0.0.1

He's doing the posting, saying something along the lines of... "The charter
doesn't say OT articles aren't allowed, so you can't stop me". So I (and
other regular's of the newsgroup), would like to change the charter to
reflect the no OT ideal (as well as incorporating no binaries, no spam, and
no cross-posting to unrelated newsgroups), as the current one says
<quote>Discussion of the show Xena: Warrior Princess.</quote>

I can change the FAQ, but I am hoping to also change the charter as well.

Would this actually be a worthwhile activity? Seems like it would be in
this case (to me at least). As it does give another arrow in abuse
e-mails, I or others may send.
