You don't need to notify anyone as long as your posting it to Usenet since
the answers.* archivers receive it straight from there.
You can add a URL: in the auxiliary headers that points the reader to the
FAQ's webpage. Also there's no harm in mentioning the URL in your FAQ.
The only problem is evil people that grab a copy of your FAQ put it up and
never both mirroring it for newer versions. You should explicitly state that
people need to ask for permission prior to doing so. I usually just agree
and ask the person to mirror it atleast once a month.
I've seen FAQ maintainers explicitly state that if the FAQ is more than two
months old the copy is most likely obselete. That's one way to deal with the
problem, but not one I choose to implement.
If you have the time, go to altavista and make a search with your FAQs
title, you'll find the websites that have it up. If you care enough, flame
the evil doers.
I've had a Korean translation of the FAQ made voluntarily by an individual.
Sort of tough to make sure he's got the latest version though :-)
