Terry, there are a couple things to consider in such a dispute. One is
the Why of doing a FAQs. Another is the Source of validity.

You do a FAQs to supply information to members of the newsgroup. It is
annoying for someone to take your stuff and post it as his-- also, it is
wrong; but, it is another channel for getting your information to members.

One of the hassles of being a FAQs maintainer is that there are at
least two sources of validating THE FAQs for a newsgroup: news.answers and
the newsgroup membership.

You have the support of news.answers; now, you are looking for
recognition from the newsgroup membership. Here are a few suggestions:

o- Make your FAQs easy to get to and use.

o- Update your FAQs fairly often

o- Correct any fact, grammar, etc. errors when they are noticed

o- Solicit, accept, _and_ _credit_ input from members for your FAQs

o- List all relevant resources likely to be of use to members-- i.e
avoid having the FAQs become 'political' vis-a-vis some clique.

o- Include an up-front grant of permission for other sites to mirror
your FAQs.

You mention that 'the other' site promotes illegal activities. What
another site may do could present ethical problems when it comes to listing
it as a resource in your FAQs. If a site, mainly, just disagrees with you
about who is the Real FAQs maintainer, attacks you, etc., go ahead and list
the site in your FAQs.

In general, not listing a resource is something you want to avoid,
especially if the site is seen as a competitor or includes information your
membership is likely to appreciate. Still, if the site promotes child
pornography, is filled with filthy language, etc., my inclination would be
to not list it as a resource.

Basically, you deal with the world of the net as it exists. The FAQs
is supposed to deliver information. The easiest way to win the recognition
and support of your membership is to 'take care of business'.
