When the other 'FAQ' appeared, and I replied that I had spent many days
rewriting my FAQ, the other person's response was, HA HA, you think I spent
any time writing that FAQ?
Considering all he had to do was go to MY WEB PAGE, SAVE my HTML PAGE as
TEXT, then stick his name on it, I think that shows who spent the most time
writing the FAQ.
His FAQ promotes ILLEGAL Activity...
I will continue to report mindspring.com, I have sent EMAILS to ALL
publications that continue to NAME mindspring.com as the BEST ISP, and
inform them of their choice!!
here is what they say is the best ISP:
Very few dial up accounts, $19.95 a month, refuse to enforce their terms of
use....
Who they ignore:
More Local Dial-Ups than AOL & AT&T, $9.95 a month UNLIMITED INTERNET
ACCESS, 10 MEG of WEB SPACE for business or personal pages....
READ my Signature if you don't know who they are ignoring.....
Why not ALLOW a user to DEFAME, ATTACK, etc., a competitor with LOWER
PRICES and MORE for your money, ISP??
Have you seen my FAQ? Have you seen the other one?
All I know is in my FAQ guidelines it states: Posting a FAQ and implying it
is approved by news.answers is the highest violation of posting rules.....
Those guidelines were sent to me by Mr. Lamb....
Usenet guidelines all say to get the FAQ before posting in news.answers
When someone using a name to imply they are the FAQ Maintainer and tells
people to go to a personal web page for the FAQ, is ABUSING the Use Policy,
when mindsprings use policy clearly states to get the FAQ in news.answers...
The abuse policy says: It is prohibited to Forge or Impersonate another
email address or user.... Isn't it forging my aft-lfaq@usa.net address by
using what he does? Is it not impersonating me by implying he is the FAQ
maintainer?
Have any of you ever gone to rtfm.mit.edu where it states all FAQs are
protected by US and International Copyrights?
Excuse me for being a PUBLISHER who owns a PUBLISHING COMPANY, and I guess
the rest of you are just novice authors who have no knowledge of anything
at all concerning publishing laws.
I guess I'm a PROFESSIONAL dealing with a bunch of amateurs....
I wrote and published the FIRST FAQ, when I set up my Web Page, that's
where I moved the FAQ, and that's where I told the newsgroup users to go to
get the FAQ.
Now I am being attacked in the FAQ Maintainers Mailing List, see previous
message from a KOTM WINNER, who must win that award every single day!!
People use my NAME to post messages to the newsgroups, which I never see,
because those domains are FILTERED out as SPAM by my news server.
This Terry Ortman, is the OWNER of STARFLEET SOFTWARE Company, ORTMAN
Enterprises, and is listed in Marquis Who's Who in Midwest America, and
Marquis Who's Who in Media and Communications. We publish newsletters,
Computer Software, and we even published a weekly newspaper here throughout
Central Illinois, and I will NOT tolerate being attacked by others who
seemingly think that by winning a KOTM award they are a better person or
more educated than me....
Since they don't use my ISP, they must be paying more than $9.95 a month,
so that just goes to show where their knowledge is....
I apologize to the mailing list, but these continued musings by people who
seem to think they know more than I do, when I have been publishing since
1984, and I guess they think, if they PAY more for LESS, they are also more
intelligent...
My FAQ tells people to not do ILLEGAL activities....
His 'FAQ' encourages distribution of Child Pornography, Buying BOOTLEG
copies of Copyrighted Films on Video Tape, etc., and mindspring's
acceptable use policy clearly says they do not condone ILLEGAL activity.
Well, they don't STOP it when they are informed of the ILLEGAL activity
either.
Guess that's why they charge $10.00 more per month than I do for internet
access, they have to pay out a bunch of lawsuits and damages to others like
me....
Check it out for yourself:
Mindspring does not condone and will not permit abusive
behavior by its users. Though no summary judgments are made,
all reports we receive are investigated and action is taken
when and where it is appropriate. The Mindspring AUP/TOS
