> Could the list manager at consensus.com please explain what is going on ?

The above line, beginning with '#', was apparently quoted
from the original message by the sender. However, my email
address appeared in that line when I received the message.
That is not the footer to my post. It is the footer to a
post received by someone else. Yet, my address appears.
That means that the line was changed by the list software
when it remailed the message to me. The remailing code not
only generates spurious headers and a footer with my email
address, but it also changes the text of a message to insert
my email address in place of the sender's address.
Here is the footer that I received:
> You are currently subscribed to faq-maintainers as: [faqmail@landfield.com]
Whose email address do you see there? It should be my
address, vicric@panix.com.
Now, I'll quote that line using '#' to introduce the quote:
# You are currently subscribed to faq-maintainers as: [faqmail@landfield.com]
Any difference? Does the list remailing code distinguish
between quote delimiters at the head of a line?
Finally, whose email address did you see near the beginning
of this message, in the line introduced by two quote
delimiters?
Regards,
Vicki Richman
