In reference to the original question, my common sense (IANAL and some
would even question my definition of "common sense" :-) tells me that
the "permission to archive and store electronically" basically implies
that you can't do anything to make everyone keep up-to-date copies of
whatever they might have archived or stored electronically.
Is this completely up the creek? I mean, is there a middle ground
here? Could you "reasonably" expect e.g. a WWW site (or a CD-ROM
publisher, at the other end of the spectrum) to undertake the
responsibility to keep up with your developments once they have
started archiving your articles?
Anybody who connects to the OSU archives would be lead to believe
that the archive is in fact being maintained ... From my impressions
of American law, you could sue the shit out of them for not putting up
a large sign which says "THE SURGEON GENERAL SEZ DON'T TRUST THIS DATA".
Oops, sorry :-)

The part about the sign is probably more true here, but you won't go
bankrupt when they sue you. But I digress.
