I wonder if it's because people just assume, knowing how many people
are out there, that you've been contacted by someone else? Like those
stories about people shouting in a street and no one calls the police
because everyone assumes that someone else *must* have.
I feel a bit wary of sending positive mail to people, too. I reckon
that every man and his dog must have replied to a good post, or
whatever, and I don't want to swamp them, but later find out that no
one has. Same thing, I reckon.
