Unlike Jeff, alt.sex itself does not have a "commercial" base
which depends on the opinions of its members. The FAQ for alt.sex
however is now 13 parts and about half a meg, last time I checked.
The HTML edition has illustrations of human anatomy and some
contraceptive devices (thanks to Planned Parenthood).
I got into this basically because it was offered to me. When
David Johnson decided he was tired of maintaining it, he looked
around and decided that there were three or four people on alt.sex
who made sense (scary when you consider how many people read that
newsgroup every month-- what is it, half a million these days?) and
he offered it to me. I took it.
I'm the fourth keeper of the alt.sex FAQ, and so far it's
been a pretty interesting experience. I've met quite a few
interesting people in the "legitimate" sex therapy business and been
asked for several television interviews, more on my idea of how to
keep kids away from alt.sex than anything else.
