1. First I checked cs.ruu.nl for the comp.lang.tcl
FAQs. The majority of these I have had some hand in, so I had a vested
interest in seeing how they were hypertexting.
This site does not handle all URLs - just URL:ftp and
URL:http tags. URL:mailto are ignored.
See <URL:http://www.cs.ruu.nl/wais/html/na-dir/tcl-faq/part1.html>
as an example.
2. The Oxford site seems to be quite slow - it's hard to tell if it's
the server, or the contention on the overseas lines. It has
the same problem with URL:mailto tags. I don't have a URL:telnet
tag to see if that is a problem as well.
3. The problem with the URLs and Tom Fine's archive are more extensive
now under SmartPage than before. Up to about 3 months ago the Ohio
state archive had working URLs, understood relative references, and
I believe understood mailto URLs. Now under SmartPage none of these
are the case.
Oh well - there is still quite a ways to go before there is a
complete WWW FAQ archive site I guess.
