A posting from faq-server which bears the Approved: line should
propagate on Usenet, without making a detour through the gateway and
the Listserv software first. Now that I think about it some more, you
may not have to configure either the Listserv or the gateway software
to do any filtering. If the gateway software only passes on to
Listserv the postings which are submitted to it for moderation (i.e.,
which do not already have an Approved: line), and does not actively
check the actual newsgroup itself, then it will never end up seeing
your FAQ postings which already bear the Approved: line and therefore
won't get submitted for moderation.
I think you probably win. But it wouldn't hurt to look into filtering
at the Listserv level, just in case. Gatewaying software packages are
notorious for exhibiting surprising behavior....
