Just as a data point, four of the seven editors of the SGI FAQs, plus the SGI
FTP site list maintainer (who runs his own show), are SGI employees. They've
done fine. Some of those FAQs are for specific SGI products and were written
and are maintained by a single editor; they are enthusiastic but do not
misrepresent the products, and they provide thorough information on bugs and
fixes which we could probably not get as quickly or accurately otherwise.

If the SGIers were drooling corporate boosters, the other three of us would
complain loudly and the newsgroup readership probably would too. For that
matter, the SGIers would be perfectly free to post on their own with the same
consequences.
