I can't see the problem myself. We know when we post our FAQs that
they are going to be distributed worldwide. They pass through a
variety of agencies and media. Some of these agencies sell Internet
access (and hence access to our FAQs) at a profit.

I seem to recall that there are (or were) companies out there who
would sell you an entire month's Usenet traffic on CD-ROM, including
any FAQs that got posted. CD-ROM distribution is therefore a normal
way for Usenet articles to reach people. As someone said at the time,
its just a very high latency one-way News feed. Now that the volume
of Usenet has increased, such a feed is not economic, but a selective
and occasional feed (news.answers) is. How is this different from a
conventional newsfeed?
