Subject: cdrom lifting FAQs from inet w/o permission
Message-Id: <frostCnuJDJ.7G8@netcom.com>
I have come upon some very disturbing news. It seems a cdrom company
has seen fit to lift many, if not all, the FAQs from news.answers
, sci.answers and other FAQ repositories, and place them on a
CDrom without the author's permissions. It looks like the first battle
over copyright on the Internet is on.
If you maintain a FAQ, or similar document, I strongly urge you to ftp
to ftp.cdrom.com and cd to /pub/cdrom/cdroms/inet. Read the Readme.txt
and index.txt files to see if your document has been published without
your consent. Then please email me and I will keep a list of email address
for people whose work has been stolen. If you can't ftp, email me and I
will check it for you.
I have emailed someone at the EFF to ask for suggestions for a course
of action, however if you have any suggestions or are willing to offer
resources, please feel free to email me.
Please distribute this message to any arena where it seems appropriate.
Thank you
