My general feeling is that if somebody wants to include any of my FAQs in a
for-profit medium, they should ask for permission. I generally grant permission,
but I want to be asked. Moreover, as a general principle, if somebody is going
to make money off my hard work, they should contribute to the effort to produce
such work, by donating money to similar efforts (e.g., supporting university
research, contributing to the FSF, etc.).
I should note that my cheap airfare FAQ includes the following copyright notice:
Copyright (c) 1989-94 by Mark Kantrowitz. Use and copying of this
information and preparation of derivative works based upon this
information are permitted, so long as the following conditions are
met:
o no fees or compensation are charged for use, copies or access to
this information
o this copyright notice is included intact
This information is made available AS IS, and no warranty is made
