NO, lab are not guard dogs, they will warn you if they'reinsecure, lab are friendly with almost everybody. For a dog to be a guard he will need proper training. A Germain Shepperd is a good guard dog.

Labs are good guard dogs if you get the right one.  I have a lab and she never lets anyone get near the house without letting my family know first.  My aunt also has a lab that is very protective.

No,Labs are a bit slow.
Dobermanns were used for guarding!! labs are gun dogs, so its not in their Blood.
i have 2 Dobermanns and they are the best Guard dogs and campions you could ever get from a Dog.

i don't think labs are good guard dogs because they aren't aggressive. i don't think they'd attack anyone.

Depends on how you train it.  If you want a labby as a guard dog then best to buyu from pup and train it by taking it to classes, or even give it a go yourself (trainning animals can be read upon and common sense - reward, punishment, etc).

Remember one thing though, its never a dog thats at fault, its the owner.  For example, a fat lazy labby is because the owener is feeding it incorrectly and not giving enough exercise.

Ideally for guard dog Doberman's are good, but by experience Rottweiler has been the best (R.I.P Scooby!)

Any dog can be trained to be a guard dog even a standard poodle. The only question is "Do you want your dog to be a guard dog" and if you do there's numerous videos out there that teach you how to teach your dog. There are even kennels you send your dog to and professional trainers work with them for about three weeks. It's all up to you in the end.

Yes, a lab is a very good guard dog IF YOU GET THE RIGHT ONE. My car was broken into last night and my chocolate lab (just turned a year old) was barking and growling through the door so I let him out, and instead of peeing on a tree he shot around to my car, bit the guy in the back and chased him down a house or two. BUT YOU HAVE TO GET THE RIGHT ONE< AND WORK WITH HIM WHILE THEY ARE A PUPPY. My lab is also above standards though, at 27" at the shoulder, and 110 lbs. (all muscle)

No, Labs are not great guard dogs. Though my dog has never let me down, when ever something happens he is right there with me to make sure i don't get hurt and stuff  like that.
