I work an 8 hour day, is the Cavalier King Charles right for me?  I do come home for an hour during my lunch break, but is that enough time for the puppy?

Yes it is. U would have enough time for your puppy on lunchbreak and have enough time after/before work to play with your puppy. Thanx for asking the question. It's a great question.

Consider getting 2, they do not seem to be as Crazy when you get home knowing they are with someone. I kennel mine together when gone are they are best friends.
I do have to say if you are single and work 8 hours a day this may not be the breed for you, as life takes us from our home a lot these days, it's nice if other family members are home even if your not, because they do not like being alone but in todays world sometimes we have no choice.

Dogs are very adaptable and they can adapt to your schedule. Make sure though that you don't neglect your dog since that would make your dog destructive and a chatter box. You should consider getting two instead of one. Remember though if they both don't get enough attention then it would be double the trouble

I would not get a Cavalier puppy if no one was home for it on a daily basis.  Cavalier puppies are particularly in need frequent attention for their first six months.  A single owner who works away from home daily is not a good prospect for owning a Cavalier.

You must be joking! Why do people STILL carry on buying dogs when they go out to work all day, five days a week? It's utterly cruel and heartless. Dogs are animals which require contact and company for many hours of the day. If you are out of the house get a cat. NOT a dog: any kind of dog but a stuffed one.

Absolutely.  I work 8 hours a day, but for the other 16 each day, my Cav is with me constantly.  She's so well behaved, it's never a problem.  I think it's the quality of time, not just pure amount of time.  A neighbor comes and takes her out each afternoon, but she does just fine alone for the 8 hours, takes a nap, plays with her toys, and is about the happiest dog I've ever seen.

Sorry, but the answer is a clear NO! People shouldn't buy dogs and then leave them alone all day. A dog under the age of at least 6 month shouldn't be left on its own at all and after that certainly not for so many hours and not every day. Puppies are a lot like children, they get frightened, bored and feel abandoned. Your puppy needs to settle down into your home, needs to learn to trust you completely and needs to physically and mentally mature a little before it can spend a few hours on its own. A DOG IS NOT A TOY, LIKE A HUMAN CHILD IT MEANS RESPONSIBILITY!!! Maybe you should consider buying a hamster, they sleep all day when you're at work and won't miss you.

My partner and I have a cavalier for past 6 months, we bought her as a young adult at 1.5 yrs.
We're little concern as well as I've had the chance to spend all day with her since I was working from home.
Unfortunately the situation had to change from next week as I'll be working away from home and visit her only during lunch.
We're just hoping that she will adapt fine and hope for the best!
