Concerning the swelling limbs- did your vet maybe suggest an internal infection or soft tissue damage? I've had pets for 17 years and almost all have had some kind of tissue damage from hurting themselves or from playing too hard. Especially my small and obese terrier. I would talk to your vet about soft tissue damage which is correctable by antiinflammatories, but of course your vet will need to make certain it is ST damage and not infection or something other.
