what do you think of the Body for Life program?  Is it a good program?  I have done it since July and have lost much body fat but I still do not look like the guys in the pictures and I am very strict with the program.

i am also following the program and have had results similar to yours. I believe that the pictures you are refering to, those guys that are the hardgainers who pack on thirty pounds in three months, they have to be the select few who are capable of this. so be realistic and dont set your goals by what you see, listen to your own body. Also dont discredit the Body For Life Program and Bill Phillips, it is sound advice in my opinion and a good program. I plan on tweaking the program along with my diet in order to increase gains. Although i go almost 100% with the intensity, i sometimes feel like im not stimulating my muscles enough due to lack of isolation, form, or some other variation in the program. I plan to listen to my body and find a better muscle stimulating motion. Find your problem and dont be afraid to experiment. Best of luck. Wade.

After 8 weeks of the body for life program i have seen better results then in years of conventional weight training.  I credit it to all aspects of the program.  The intensity is key,  I make sure i give 100% and don't hold anything back.  Also the diet and supplementation are vary important.

The 2 biggest mistakes i have seen from people i know on the body for life program are not giving it all in the gym and the size of portions in the meals.  I know one person who has a view of portions that are double what i understand them to be.  Over 6 meals a day that is a huge amount of food.

Good luck to you and best wishes with your new body !!

Well it is my 2nd week on the program and I am seeing changes in my body. I have cheated a little(food wise), so I'm quite surprised at the results (I have followed the exercise part fully). I guess it is too early to tell just how well the whole thing works but so far so good !!!!   I'm trying not to cheat from now on... but gee its hard sometimes

I've been on the program for 6 weeks now and have seen some pretty good changes in my body.  I am following the diet, lifting and cardio to the letter. Form is everything in lifting so do them properly. Slow and steady! I feel better than I have in years and look forward to my next 6 weeks.

Ive attempted this before and I wasnt able to last past four weeks... so Im vowing to do it for lent, which guarantees me at least 40 days of success. The thing that I have a problem with is the strength training is that its going to make me bulky, isnt it? I used to be quite overweight so i have fairly large legs that seemed to have retained a lot of fat , but they are also very muscular. I dont want them to get any bigger, so what should I do?

Try something along the lines of pilates or yoga.  These are still strength training, but they elongate the muscle leaving it thinner not bulkier.  Dancers have used these for years.

I've only been on the program for 4 weeks. I have some results. Sometimes I feel a little down, but I'm trying to keep my hopes up. I'm just at the beginning of my future body. I can't wait to see what my progess will be once I reach my first challenge.

Of course the pictures you see of guys with huge guts, now having a 6 PAC for abs, IS totally unrealistic, you have to lose fat in order to see your abs, all the weights in the world won't increase the chance of seeing your abs.  Good diet and exercise.  Cardio workouts are the essential evil and you have to push hard. The weight training on 3 days a week is a good amount I try for 4 2 upper body and 2 lower per week at a maximum of 45 to 50 minutes.  That is one truth about working out with weights Work hard or go home.  Everyone hates hard cardio, but this is where you lose that gut.

Don't focus on the scale, but rather the way your body feels.  I've been on about 2 weeks and have only lost a few pounds but my clothes feel a lot better and my mid section is noticeably more trim.

I've been drinking a protein shake and 4 hb eggs daily as my snacks.  Also, remember your fiber!  All that protein can be tough on the digestive system.

I have had this book since Christmas 2002!!! off and on I would bring this off the shelf. Finding every excuse not to follow it--but find myself returning to it. I cannot count how many times I have entered the challenge. I did it in 2003 and my husband noticed ,major changes that were small to me. I lost about 12 lbs in 4 weeks. I think the mistake I have made since is that I have been using lite versions. Now I buy the myoplex deluxe bas and eat half for my meal. I also drink the regular myoplex shake. I find when I do not have at least one shake per day then I fall off the program and end up with my extremely poor eating habits and back to square one. I have decided not to discuss my plan with anyone because I am givng myself one more chance in 2007 to complete the challenge to finally see once and for all whether I can succeed and prove to myself that the pictures in the book are not doctored and it is possible to complete the challenge--wish me luck---dee ps I am starting Jan 8 2007--the reason not now is that I want to have my weights set in place instead of fussing around for the 1st week  bye for now

It's extremely hard for most women to build sizeable muscles without the use of anabolic steroids.  So don't fear, Ashely.  You can do all the squats and leg presses you want, and not bulk up.
