The "check gauges light" keeps coming on in my 92 Buick...

The "check gauges light" keeps coming on in my 92 Buick Regal. It goes along for weeks at a time and then the light comes on and it dies. I can be going 65 and it just dies. Usually, it will start again right away, sometimes I have to let it sit for awhile. I put a new coil pack on it today. It didn't help. The light is still on. I had it to the shop. They couldn't find anything. I am frustrated. It wouldn't die for them. He replaced the fuel filter and drove it for 2 weeks, nothng.
