2002 Passat GLS-At takeoff, the car does not respond immediately when pressing the accelerator, then it kicks in and the car "hops".  This happens two or three times (all under 10mph), then (over 10mph) it shifts fine.  When the car idles, it is oscillating very noticeably-I can feel it and the rpm needle moves up and down.  Also, I had the car die on me a few times.  Brought it in & was told it was a hose, and that it had been fixed.  It ran okay for a about a week, but died again today.  It starts up again if I put it in N or P and rev it up, then put it in D.  Is this car hopeless?  Any input would be appreciated.  Thanks!
