I have a 2000 v,w, passat with a factory radio. I changed the battery, and now, my radio remins in the "SAFE" mode and I can't reprgram it. I bought this car used and don't have the book with it. I do, however, have the 4 digit security code for this radio. My local V.W. dealer states I have to leave the key in the on position and the radio on for approx. 1 hr. and he says the radio will reset itself and I should see the number 1000 appear on the display of the radio, then he states I can put in my security code and the radio will work.  Well I followed these instructions, but , the radio only stays in the "SAFE" mode. Can someone tell me how to get this radio out of the "SAFE" mode so I can enter the 4 digit code????
