My collie went into heat right after a hurricane and I could not seperate her from her mate as the additional kennel was destroyed.  Her heat cycle lasted only about 5 days, but she is pregnant.  I want to know how soon after whelping can I have her spayed, and, also, is such a short heat cycle normal?  Last time it lasted 3 weeks.
