It would be a good idea, yes. Dogs are pack animals and can't stand to be left alone. Especially when you have a puppy, you can't be away for 8 hours at a time. It does something to them. But if you have two pups, you have to train them what to/not to do at the same time. Plus, any bad habit one dog has will be passed to the other. And you've got the problem of them teaming up to get what they want. I've had two pups at the same time and I vowed I would never do it again! :) I'm just warning you right off that it's tough and takes a tremendous amount of patience! So weigh your options and decide which decision is right for you. Good luck! Tanisha

HAVING ONE DOG THAT YOU CAN'T BE AT HOME FOR IS BAD, HAVING TWO IS IGNORANCE. NOTHING CAN SUBSTITUTE HUMAN INTERACTION AND ATTENTION. ALTHOUGH ITS NOT ALWAYS PRACTICAL TO BE HOME ALL DAY YOU WILL STILL NEED TO ARRANGE FOR THE DOG TO BE TAKEN CARE OF, ESPECIALLY A YOUNG PUPPY. PLEASE THINK LONG AND HARD BEFORE GETTING ANOTHER DOG. MANY DOGS ARE PUT DOWN NEEDLESSLY BECAUSE THE OWNER CAN NO LONGER COPE WITH THE WORK IT BRINGS. YOU CAN'T BUY ANOTHER PUP JUST TO COMFORT THE ONE YOUR ALREADY LEAVING IT WILL ONLY DOUBLE YOUR PROBLEM.

I have two beagle pups and they are not easiest dogs, but I pop home at lunchtime to feed and take them for a quick walk and they are fine.  They keep each other company and stimulate each other in the absense of me.

They are not that much trouble and are learning quick.  I would recommend two always.  In the evenings I fuss them mad and take them for a long walk and they love it.
