If a female pug has her period... does she get nippels from that or does she have to actually be pregnant to get them?

my pugs nipples did enlarge a little.  Not big enough to nurse puppies.  We just ended up calling them her buttons.

How often does the female pug have her period her first one was July 1,2005 and a one day one October 6,2005 and now November 8,2005 a full blown period
