Its been only 3 months since my kitty gave birth to 4...

Its been only 3 months since my kitty gave birth to 4 healthy kittens.I had notice that just after two months she came into heat again and mated.Is this normal.As of now she is very much carrying and doesnt entertain her older kittens.Whenever she enters home,they get scared or run for cover.
Do all cats mate so soon?.,her older kittens are not even 4 months old as of now.
