I love my Cavalier.  Cavaliers are the cutest, sweetest, dogs in the world.  But you should read about Syringomyelia in the Cavalier before you make a decision.

Cavaliers are fabulous pets. They were bred specifically as lap dogs and unlike a lot of other small dog breeds, they are not high strung, are sweet, loving, and very smart. Because of inbreeding, there are a lot of inheritable problems including vision problems, cardiac problems, and also joint disease. It is imperative that you seek out a reputable breeder, one who adheres to the breeding guidelines mandated by the CKCS Club and who certifies the health of the dog with veterinary certificates for healthy eyes and heart. Avoid puppies sold at stores or from "back yard" (private) breeders. The money you save up front won't be worth the heartache and expense of a sick puppy a year down the road.

Cavaliers have more health problems than syringomyelia.  They are wonderful dogs....but be sure you buy from a reputable breeder and educate yourself before you buy!   I have two and want more.  They are the most lovable.  You won't be sorry if you by a Cavalier.  Good luck to you.
