I have a friend who just purchased a $350.00 lab puppy who was 7 weeks old at the time they got him.  He did not have his first shots.  He is now 8 weeks old and I just wanted to know if a breeder is supposed to give the first shots for such an expensive puppy?

They should have but some people are not good dog breeders. any way it should get them now because it is very susceptible to certain illness w/out them

$350 is really not expensive for a lab.Is the pup registered?Where I am from a registered lab pup goes for about $600-800.Shots still should have been given but some people just don't bother!!The pup definitely needs the shots now.  Good luck to your friend, good price for a great companion!!!

My vet told me, that puppies, like human babies carry immunity, from their mother, and not to vaccinate them until 8 weeks old, but you should keep them away from exposure... other dogs, crowded places and even flys, (can carry parvo)until the puppy has build up enough immunity, and has had their entire series of puppy shots.
