No, A contact high is a myth... If you got a contact high that means the Marijuana went into your system in order for you to get high off of it.... Well i went to a drug and alchohol class and this guy failed a Urine Anaylasys for Marijuana, he blamed it on just being surrounded by people that smoke and he just inhaled the second hand smoke... They said that could not happend and he had to of smoked it, because it is impossible for a person to get a contact high and carry marijuana in there system if they havn'tsmoked it... and he got in trouble... I mean we are talking about professionals that study marijuana everyday.. Plus they didn't just tell me that, we had to watch a movie about it, and it also mentioned it in the movie... So no, A contact high is all in your head buddies...

Both Yes and No. In a real, pharmacological sense, no. If a person were to have some form of severe allergy to the active chemicals in marijuana smoke, and come into contact with a quantity significant enough to cause this reaction, then an effect might be felt, but it wouldn't be a high, just a very unpleasant reaction. However, the phenomenon of the "contact high" is real in a psychological sense. It isn't caused by anything outside of the person experiencing its' mind, in that way it is very similar to the placebo effect. For some people, simply being around others who are "high" on something is enough to produce effects which, as far as their preconception of the effects of the substance is concerned, is the same as having taken it themselves. This can be beneficial in the case of someone who doesn't want to use a substance, but still has a great time with friends who do due to this effect, though it is important to note they are not actually feeling the same thing, but are feeling a "simulated effect" based only upon their limited understanding of the effect in question. On the other hand, in those with negative preconceptions about a substance and it's effects, it can cause a very unpleasant experience, especially if they convince themselves that they may in fact have come into contact with an active quantity of the substance involuntarily (for example, smoke floating down a corridor). The phenomenon of contact high is often destroyed in an individual by the understanding of exactly what it is, but further analysis brings the realisation that if the mind can produce such an effect without outside stimulation, one can theoretically produce such an effect at will. The actual ability to do this is rare, and in a way seems parallel to the "nirvana" of buddhist meditation. It is well known that practiced meditation can be used to bring about a state of calm happiness throughout daily life, but this is often dismissed as trivial by those who have never experienced such an effect.

yeah i think you can and i heard you can get like 10 times more high than the person actually smoking... i'm not sure that's proven completely true but i'm pretty sure that's what happened to me!!!

Yes, you can. While I was living at the dorms at my college, some of the people living there smoked pot and it wafted out into the hall and into my room (and possibly others' rooms). I got high and very sick from it. I did not have room mate. So, yes, one can get a contact high from marijuana.

No its not possible to get a contact high you were just getting sick from the smoke cause most of the THC is absorbed threw the lungs

Lets be more specific..If you inhale the marijuana smoke you can get a contact high..And if you are enclosed in a room that is shut where the smoke cannot get out you can get as high as the other people in the room..And second hand smoke is very bad even pot smoke!

NO YOU CANT YOU IDIOTS! LET'S THINK ABOUT THIS, IF YOU COULD, THEN MEDICAL MARIJUANA WOULD NOT BE ALLOWED IN PUBLIC. ALSO, YOU WOULD HAVE TO PROVE TO THE COURTS THAT YOU DON'T HAVE CHILDREN IN THE HOME OR EVEN IN THE APARTMENT BUILDING IF YOU LIVE IN ONE IF SMOKE COULD TRAVEL SO WELL. NOW YOU CAN GET A CONTACT HIGH BY BEING "SMOKED OUT" SUCH AS BEING IN A VEHICLE WITH A PERSON OR PERSONS WHO ARE SMOKING HEAVILY BUT NOT IN A BIG AREA SUCH AS A ROOM! IF THAT WHERE TRUE, EVERY PERSON WHO EVER LIVED IN A COLLEGE DORM WOULD TEST POSITIVE FOR POT, AND THEY CAN'T.

You can get high from people smoking around you but not as high as the person actually smoking, and your buzz don't stay as long.

Yes darlin. If a lot of THC smoke is around you , say in a clam baked car or something of the sort, you will experience a slight high. It will not be, however, more so than the people smoking. Remember, their around that smoke too.

YES you most deff can. you really can. especially when you're in a closed space...like a car. i dont really know from personal experience cause normally im the one smoking... but i have been told, and witnessed people high from 2nd hand. but honostly... just SMOKE THE WEED

i get contact high all the time but that's because i am extremely volatile and if someone around me is happy and giggly i get happier and gigglier...and soon i'm the one that needs a urine toxicology test...although i maintain it's perfectly normal to sing mr. rogers' songs ALL THE TIME.

yes you can... actually, it takes only 2-3 days for second hand marajuana smoke to be out of your system, which is why they established drug tests with a minimum THC level count... so people who are exposed to it but dont personally smoke it can have a chance of passing a drug test if it come directly following exposure.

You can't get a contact high. There isn't enough thc still in the exhaled smoke. You might get lightheaded and a little dizzy if you aren't used to it. Its just like regular cigarette smoke, it will do that to you if you are rarely around it.

No, it is not very likely you will get a contact high unless your trying too. And you wont be anywhere near as high as the person smoking, because about 95% of the THC in marijuana is absorbed by someones lungs in the first three seconds of inhalation.

Yes,you can! My mom and step dad smoke marijuana i live with them for a while i smoke some before so i know what it smells like it makes me sick when i breath it in my heart starts hurting! You don't get real high from second hand just a little.

i do believe it all has to do with the placebo effect. people who don't smoke marijuana, for example, can become very immature in the pressence of the plant and there imagination begins to run wild allowing for the "high" they receive. the one guy said he got high AND sick from being in a completely different room from where the weed was being smoked, this is definitely all in the mind i'vebeen with non-smokers in a smoked out car, extremely thick smoke, and they were fine. maybe a little head change could come about but as far as a contact "high" thats all in the mind.

no way i smoked everyday for at least 10 years quit stayed around heavy smokers and never felt the effect of weed again, only symptom was wanting to smoke!!!!!

No, you can't. My cousin was in the army and he told me about tests the army has conducted to see if it's possible to get a high by being around people smoking marijuana (sometimes a soldier would claim his high would be attributed to a contact high instead of smoking the actual drug) and their tests concluded that inhaling the smoke will not make you high by any method traditionally used to detect drug intoxication. Short answer: No, if you haven't done any drugs and you're around someone who has and think you're getting high, it's just a psychological thing.

The contact high is totally fictitious--sociological and psychological factors are the ONLY reason people will sometimes feel (and often INSIST) that they are high. Many experiments have been conducted (many will remember the similar experiments using near beer where the drinker became 'drunk' along with several people drinking actual beer--to the point that his/her driving was impaired when they took the wheel--same idea but with 'near marijuana') People are very suggestible. If they want to feel drunk/high/etc. they will. If the don't want to feel drunk/high/etc. but believe they are drinking/smoking/etc. they still will. It is ALL the mighty power of suggestion.

Sure your just wack, LOL, u cant get high from drugs unless it enters your system, possibly if its blowing around ye, but u cant get a contact high from someone else by being near them. you can sub-consciously feel as if you were high, because that person mood makes you feel altered from the usual.
