it does kill brain cells, but Yes they do grow back, something that helps rebuild them is protein, such as fish. When you quite smoking it, they will rejuvenate, not all the way though

Yo, smoking weed never kills braincells it tickles your braincells. dont believe what the people from back in the day tell you they too old to know sh!t. they used to say that marijuana is as harmfull to you as heroin. u dont believe that do you? i smoke weed everyday and i get straigh a's in school. so i dont believe anything. and for it being illegal. the cops got a gun i got a plant. whos the criminal?

no weed does not kill brain cells cannabidiol witch is in weed protects parts of the brain and other nerves. the only thing it can do is make your cannabidnoid respters not work as well because of over exposer but if you just smoke enough to get you high it doesn't hurt any thing you should goto healthwell.com

brian cells do not repair after they are destroyed.  You have a finite number of brain cells, but weed doesn't kill them. Alcohol on the other hand will.

If u think smoking weed is a waste of your life then you've got another thing coming, simply enjoying life and smoking a doob here and there can't do much but good can't it, unwinding once in a while doesn't hurt. Although motivation can decrease after too much use, if you're smart about it, nothing wrong with weed. Too much of anything is always bad for you.

brain cells do not grow back dumb ass, but weed does not kill brain cells like Brian said it only tickels brain cells so theres no need to worry if they will grow back cause they never leave.(At least not from weed)

Actually, it has been recently proven that smoking weed doesn't necessarily kill your braincells, but it does deplete the myelin sheath, which is a fatty material around the axon.  When this myelin sheath is depleted, information being transmitted throughout the neuron is slowed down, hence having slow reactions.  The positive thing about this s that the myelin sheath does in fact reconstruct itself after a period of time without restriction by cannibinoids.

As to why exactly the myelin sheath gets depleted:  my guess is that it's due to the fact that THC attaches to fatty cells, and the myelin sheath is just so happened to be made up of just that.

You are born with a certain amount of brain cells. Once you smoke weed or even cocaine, you lose them. You can never get them back once they are dead. This also causes a decrease in I.Q.

People listen to Brian and potgold. No, marijuana does not kill brain cells. Like he said it tickles the receptors in your brain a lot like the way alcohol does, but alcohol will wear them out over time. And no braincells will not regenerate they are the only cells in your body that won't regenerate over time.

Pot God is right. You cannot kill brain cells with it and if you do it in the right amount, it can be helpful. As for it being addictive, thats a total fallacy. I think the 1920's-1950's propaganda is still having its effects on people these days. They tried to make us think that marijuana would make us kill  people. In my eyes, there is nothing wrong with it if you do it in moderation (once every 1-3 weeks for me.). Don't let it control you and you will be alright.

I think we should stop criticizing people for wanting to be happy...if using marijuana makes people happy why try to stop them...its their own brain at stake not your.      Don't listen to the pot smokers. They're too ignorant to go and look at real research- probably because they don't have as many brain cells as the rest of us. The THC in pot binds to protein receptors in your brain and blocks oxygen flow. This causes your brain cells to die and since brain cells do NOT grow back, they will remain dead and you will become less and less able to percieve the world around you. That's why people that smoke pot for a long time are stupid and ignorant. The stuff about the old folks being misinformed is true in that no one really knew the results of smoking pot until they passed a law in Nov. 2001 that allowed scientists to study the effects of marijuana on the human body. Now they know for sure and the facts are undeniable. It kills your brain, and people that smoke pot are 50% more likely to get lung cancer than people that smoke unfiltered cigarettes. It also increases the risk of cancer in the head and neck. Scientists believe that this is because our lungs and head were not made to be filled with tar, smoke, and carcinogens. Go figure...
    I'm not trying to tell anybody how to live their life, I'm just posting the facts.

haha, I smoke weed every day, run an IT Consulting company, has no adverse effects on my performance, aside from the laziness, a little xanax fixes that. I have so many brain cells I can spare a few, poor pathetic government brainwashed bastards. Go watch some more gov'tsponsored anti-drug commercials on TV. Your braincells dont grow until its been about 1 or 2 years.They get destroyed by lack of oxygen in your brain. It also impairs your memory to a certain point.  If you smoke weed everyday of your life your likly to get braindamage, if not well your just lucky.

Marijuana does not kill brain cells but over-smokeing it will.Do your brain a favor and learn your limits.Smokeing too much for too long will just give you a headache or kill the outer layer of brain cells you were trying to get high.When one's brain cells are high the cells become lathargic,slow, or asleep;if you smoke too much your cells are imbalanced from the lack of oxyen and excessive amounts of smoke(THC)reulting in the opposite of the desired effect.

nicole stfu currently i am writing a paper on medical marijuana use and u CANNOT GET PHYSICALLY HOOKED ON IT.  on mentally and thats still hard enough.  i have been smoking it for awhile now and its not a waste.  you being on the computer like this is a waste.  Alcohol is wasting ur time if you would know better.

Brain cells NEVER grow back! Everything in the human body stops developing at the ripe age of 21 and I dont mean for this to sound dismal folks, but after then its just downhill all the way. Smoking strong weed speeds up the aging process by 25%, which is why users age far quicker than non-users. I am 24 now and have smoked a lotta strong weed in my time! My concentration at work has become much worse over the past year, I make cock-ups all the time, and suffer severly from short-term memory loss. If anyone here thinks theres a bright side and that I'm just being real negative, I'm so sorry peeps, but I'm aint! I know that I could live to a very old age but I will never gain back what I've lost, and there's nothing that can be done about it. Its sad I know, but it IS the truth. Remember, the only things on our body that
actually ever 'repair' are cuts, bruises, broken arms etc. With everything else u only get one chance in ur life. I blew that chance and have to face up to that for the rest of my life. It seems so unfair that u have to pay such a harsh price for doing something so petty.. but thats the way it is guyz! :-z

BRAIN CELLS DO NOT GROW BACK!! When you hit you head slightly you loose brain cells when you drink boos you loose brain cells. Smoking weed kills them forever but you will not go retarded if you smoke once.

I smoked pot from age 13-21.  It was once a week untill I turned 18.  I got a settlement of about $20,OOO, and blew it all on pot.  I mean I would smoke an ounce in a day...sometimes more.  Well I wound up in a psych hospital when I thought everyone was after me(from lack of sleep and being stoned)....one flew over the cucoos nest...lol...anyway they put me on psych meds for a year which in some ways is worse than pot...anwyay I recently went to a neuropsychologist, and my short term memory is shot as hell.  I have no ability to encode recent info.  I take fish pills, letchitin, vitamins, ginko biloba...my brain is still shot in the short term...DONT SMOKE POT...its twenty times more potent and it's laced...learn from my experience...if you grow it...you can smoke it!...that's what my psych doc says....he's from india...you can't grow it, so don't smoke it!

I've smoked weed nearly three times a week for 4 years running.  I've graduated HS with a 4.88 gpa and will be attending Yale next fall.  Weed does not kill brain cells.

One, you can't grow brain cells back. You are only allowed the ones you are born with. If you kill one, it's gone forever. Older people kill thier'sby not using them. If you don't use it, you lose it. Two, pot does not kill brain cells. There is no proof ANYWHERE that it does and if it did it is VERY minimal compared to the other drugs out there. But again, there is NO EVIDENCE that it does.

Yes almost ALL from here are extremely ignorant. Weed does less damage than alcohol. ALcohol is legal. Therefor, Weed is very safe, and does minimal/no temporary and NO permanent damage. God, people look up your facts, not just propaganda s**t

Marijuana does not kill braincells.  

Brain cells will never grow back.  If you have a habit of binge drinking (alcohol use is habit-forming, marijuana use is not) throughout high school and college, all those brain cells of yours that die (alcohol kills brain cells) will never grow back.

Most of you do not have any idea about effects of weed. I'm a medical doctor and I'm absolutly sure that weed in general is not bad for your body, it is the action of smoking that is unhealty. I personaly do not smoke weed but I know that it does affects a memory in some way but only when you smoke it very often. SO START EATING IT! Ther is nothing bad about that;)

welll it does kill brain cells adn memory loss is very common too but if you stop then then your brain cells should have the stragth to rejuvenate but if you continue to smoke pot then eat more vitamins  to make sure your head doesnt lose to much .

Fools... hasnt anyone ever told you that drugs are bad for you... anything you inhale kills braincells(with the exception of oxygen) but habitual marijuana use will kill more rendering you a usless member of society... spending every paycheck on a bag and not having enough to support yourself because of addiction... just think it over and mabey you might make the right choice some day.

Smoking weed relaxes you, but its only a temporary solution. It's just like alcohol, it gets you addicted and then you ain't enough with out it, you NEED IT!!!!! My boyfriend does that, sometimes he forgets to call me back, I feel soo bad!! When you are under the influence-BLAZED- you don't realize what you are doing or who you are hurtin'.
