Quakers where involved in many business' in the UK other than local crafty work which mainly involved furniture.

Although they wanted to go to university they where denied because of their faith. Instead they decided to go into business.

Seeing confectioneries as a moral business is one of the reasons why the Rowntrees, Cadbury and Fox family all went into chocolate and confectioneries leading the market in the UK as they do now (though no longer Quaker owned). The Gurney family and the Barclay family of Norwich went into banking. Lloyds bank and Friends provident are also of quaker origin. The Colemans of Norwich were also a Quaker family.
