Slavery and Agriculture Ancient civilizations that developed agriculture valued education, organization, stability, and city life. They valued education because they needed to develop mathematics and writing to keep track of stored grain. They needed to develop technology to understand how to cultivate and harvest grain. One of the most technologically advanced projects of these cultures was the construction of irrigation systems. Architecture required complex geometry to build huge warehouses for the grain. Someone needed to understand the seasons: the best day to plant, the best day to till the soil, the best day to harvest, the best day for a festival. All of this required organizational skills. Such complex skills required differentiation of labor. One person could not learn everything needed to run an agricultural community. Such a highly organized society needed skilled leaders. An agricultural community prized stability because everyone needed to calmly work together to plant, harvest, and to store the grain without worrying about thieves. Because they planted and harvested crops agricultural communities no longer needed to follow migrating herds of animals or wander around looking for food growing in nature to gather. Agricultural communities settled near rivers to irrigate their crops. As their communities grew they built cities surrounded by agricultural fields, and as the cities grew so did the surrounding area. Soon, the land they claimed for their city bumped up against land claimed body in neighboring city along rivers. One way that slavery may have began: Two cities claiming the same land fought to the death for the valuable arable land near rivers, but fighting to the death reduced stability in the region. The victors, instead of killing all of the losers of a war began two enslaved them. This insured better regional stability and help supply needed agricultural field labor. On the other hand, herding societies were constantly on the move following their sheep, goats, or cattle from their summer pastures to their winter pastures. If there was a drought, they just heard of their goats to another area. Hunting in gathering societies like herding societies roamed from place to place. These masculine cultures had to kill animals to survive. If disorganization and instability led to fighting, the tribe could easily divide and go their separate ways. They did not value stability or city life. They valued freedom, courage, weapons, and strength. Animal herding routes easily turned into trade routes. If their animals died, they would have to trade or fight with another tribe for food. Another way slavery may have begun: As the agricultural societies accumulated vast stores of grain, herding, hunting, and gathering societies stole their stored grain, and eventually use their superior weapons to overrun their communities and enslaved them. By doing this, hunting and gathering societies stopped hunting, and settle down in cities as a ruling class. Slavery has always been associative with agricultural societies. Hunting and gathering societies have no need for slaves.

I am currently taking an American History course. To answer this question - African Slaves were first brought to America (Colonies) in 1619 in Jamestown. The African were brought over by the Dutch. The Dutch saw America as an opportunity, because slavery was already banned in most of Europe including Holland. Because America was so diversified and their was no one government or set of rules in use, it was hard to decide what would be acceptable. Slavery would not end for another two centuries. As far a there being white slaves, I would have to disagree. There were white servants known as endentured serverts who were in debt to the host family who paid their way to the "new world" They were sometimes given a sum of money at the end of their service as a way to show that they were not a slave persay. However, there were other slaves who were brought to America - The Chinese for example.

One reason for social division is that in agricultural societies, not everybody has to get their own food, but a few people work together and get more than they need, needing helpers to harvest the fields and to domesticate the animals at a low paid or even not at all paid job. I think that's one of the main points how slavery came up. Slavery has always been associative with agricultural societies. Hunting and gathering societies have no need for slaves. All the farming work required organizational skills. Such complex skills required differentiation of labor. One person could not learn everything needed to run an agricultural community, that's why they needed help from slaves.The people who �owned� the slaves became really rich; they formed the �higher� social class as they made a lot of money. But the workers, who were very poorly paid or not at all, formed the �lower� or the �working� class.

Slavery is assumed to have started as early as the beginning of time but the first written accounts where in Egypt during the old dynasty where slavery was baste on social status, not race. This practice spread throughout Africa which is why when white settlers came it was not difficult to penetrate Africa's human resources. Triangular trade (which first domesticated slaves in Europe, then America) stared in the early 1500 (and would have started earlier if it wasn't for the dieses White encountered when the first went to Guyana. It continued in both Union and Confederate state after the American revolution and even a little bit after the Civil war (although not officially recognized by the government of the time) and finally ended in America June 19, 1865. That date is recognized by African Americans as Juneteenth today. Slavery still exist in Africa, Asia, and remote parts of South America. The worse offence still seen today is the use of indentured servants in America, who are usually Hispanic, Asian, or African illegal immigrants.

i think slavery was awful. i am white, i am ashamed of my race for what we have done in the past. taken peoples homes, land,food,water, children. we always take what is not ours. slavery meant that one person was in charge(white person)of a black person. the white man known as the "MASTER" made the slave do anything he thought up. if you need any help instantmessage me. i can answer few questions but i can answer throughly. i am on this site because i have homework due about this topic 2. another thing was that not only blacks were slaves their were Latin Americans native Americans too. i suggest you read a book called NightJohn. it is a powerful book about slavery Peace

The truth is long ago English People wanted to be more rich. They went to Africa so they can get some people to do the work for free. So they put a rope around blacks neck and dragged them to this hut. A man will come in and say "you'll do" and take you to a ship. The ship will be crowed with strangers. You would be chained by you neck to these other people.It would be so crowded you can't hardly move. when it was time to eat a group would eat. If you refused to eat they would use a funnel, if you still refused to open your mouth the would burn the bottom and place it agaist your lips then the food will run down your throut. if some one had to use the bathroom they have to do it right there. All you smell is must, vomit and pee. that is how you will get sick and die.there will be sharks after the boat becase you will be bleeding. sometimes they might give you a bolder and then shoot you and then everyone on that chain will go overboard with you or you will be droped of at a island and then they might not come back and you can also die from that.but the last two days are good because they will wash you good and feed you good but they will put a muzzul on you so you can't talk to others.

In the past-when -In the past in 1671 english settlers get slaves to pick their rice. -Slavery started in 1660`s. -In 1750 english men traded slaves for gold fur and stuff they didn`t need and stuff they did need. Past-where -The slaves picked rice in the rice feilds. -They dug in the gold mines of grains. -They would be used to keep the furnace burning. -They worked in cocoa farms. Present-Who -Over 246 million children are working. -gurlz are in demand. -Some children slaves are charlie,taylor,rebecca hunger,and mary johnson. Present-Why -They use slaves because it`s cheeper. -Their trained at a early age. -They have lots of year in labour. -They work long hours. Present-Where -they work in cocoa industrys. -They work in West Africa. -They do domestic work. -ANd in Asia. and that is on Child slavery cuz thats my project. By chantal and lynette.

Along the west coast of Africa, from the Cameroons in the south to Senegal in the north, Europeans built some sixty forts that served as trading posts. European sailors seeking riches brought rum, cloth, guns, and other goods to these posts and traded them for human beings. This human cargo was transported across the Atlantic Ocean and sold to New World slave owners, who bought slaves to work their crops. European traders such as Nicolas Owen waited at these forts for slaves; African traders transported slaves from the interior of Africa. Equiano and others found themselves sold and traded more than once, often in slave markets. African merchants, the poor, royalty, anyone could be abducted in the raids and wars that were undertaken by Africans to secure slaves they could trade. The slave trade devastated African life. Culture and traditions were torn asunder, as families, especially young men, were abducted. Guns were introduced and slave raids and even wars increased. After kidnapping potential slaves, merchants forced them to walk in slave caravans to the European coastal forts, sometimes as far as 1,000 miles. Shackled and underfed, only half the people survived these death marches. Those too sick or weary to keep up were often killed or left to die. Those who reached the coastal forts were put into underground dungeons where they would stay -- sometimes for as long as a yea r -- until they were boarded on ships.

How did slavery start? Well everyone knows, ignorance and being greedy is the answer to the question. The question I want to know is, why did people who claimed to have been so righteous, honest, loving and caring let it go on. When in the state of being wrong I always feel so guilty and know that it is not a good feeling. I just don't understand why things have to be the way they do, but good always prevails over the bad. Thats why you have to look forward work on keeping things organized and stop letting our selfishness, block what we need to really do. Looks like slavery failed because freedom is here and has been here for ever. I hope it stays that way, its up to us.

I don't know why slavery started, or what was in the minds of those white men, but I do Know this, slavery is one of the worst things America has done. Why? Well, #1, if white men had never brought slaves to America, segregation never would have taken place. #2, white men treated Africans WORSE than animals: not to mention beatings, whippings, and working from sun-up to sun-down: sometimes well into the night if there was a full moon. (I read on another page that an 18 yr. old boy was hung for stealing 24 cents. Another girl burned down some houses; as her punishment, she was to have her hands severed off and have a public whipping. Instead, she was hanged.) The trip from Africa was inhumane, I might add. There was disease, lice, bairly any air was filtered down below the deck, which was where the "slaves to be" were, and the conditions were unsanitary. When the slaves did get food, it was just thrown down at them. Many died, and the few that did make it to America had been bound and chained, so they had marks on them. The sailors put grease and tar on them so they would look healthy. During the Middle Passage, that was what the trip from across the Atlantic was called, the sailors, so the "slaves to be" could get exorcise, made them dance to music that a boy was playing on flute. If the "hostages" refused to dance, the sailors would threaten to shoot them. Why? The sailors did this so that the slaves would get at least some form of exorcise so the sailors would get more money when they sold the slaves. 'Why did they do this' you must be wondering. The answer is simple. Greed. The American's were greedy. A powerful thing, greed is; and to think, it all started with the root of all evil, the love of money. Now I'm not saying that money is bad. It's not bad at all, but the love of money, I'll say it again, the LOVE of money is the root of ALL evil. I praise God, and thank him, that I am not a slave!!!!!:.)

slavery started in the early 1700's. white sailors went on voyages to find new land and they found 'the americas' commonly known as america now. when they found thins new land they found that the natives were growing strange goods such as things like sugar cane, tobacco, cotton and other useful goods. they decided to send white slaves over to the americas to harvest these goods but most of them died or became ill because they were not used to the working conditions such as the heat and work amount. they then decided to find people who they could make into slaves and force them to harvest these crops. they had to find people who were strong and used to the working conditions. it was decided that ships where to be sent to africa to pick up black people and force them to harvest the crops. the white man believed at this point in time of there developing civilization they were 'backwards' and 'stupid'. the black people where neither they were just less developed in the weaponry system which became a major factor in the taking capture. the white man had guns whereas they only had spears. they white man captured black man and sent them on ships to the americas , this started slavery. most of the black slaves died on these ships from the poor conditions and diseases. slavery demolished many developing civilizations in africa but without it america wouldnt be so developed and such things as sugar, treacle, cotton and tobacco. i personally think that slavery was horrible and i disagree with it 100%

Why don't you give an accurate answer like this: Slavery is a condition of control over a person, known as a slave, that can be enforced by violence or other forms of coercion against his or her will. Slavery almost always occurs for the purpose of securing the labour of the slave. A specific form, known as chattel slavery, is defined by the absolute legal ownership of a person or persons, including the legal right to buy and sell them.The 1926 Slavery Convention described slavery as "...the status or condition of a person over whom any or all of the powers attaching to the right of ownership are exercised..." Therefore, a slave is someone who cannot leave an owner or employer without explicit permission, and who will be returned if they escape. Therefore a system of slavery � as opposed to the isolated instances found in any society � requires official, legal recognition of ownership, or widespread tacit arrangements with local authorities, by masters who have some influence because of their social and/or economic status. In the strictest sense of the word, "slaves" are people who are not only owned, but are also not paid, and who have no rights. The word comes from Latin term sclavus, which is thought was originally referring to slavs, peoples from Eastern Europe, including parts of the Byzantine empire. However, the current usage of the word serfdom is not usually synonymous with slavery, because serfs are considered to have had some rights. The International Labour Organization (ILO) defines slavery as a form of forced labour. It defines "forced labour" to be "all work or service which is extracted from any person under the menace of any penalty and for which the said person has not offered himself voluntarily", albeit with certain exceptions: military service, convicts, emergencies and minor community services. slavery began in the 1600's mostly because of the civil war. The women and children weir taken in captive and enslaved. The men and boys wir thought to be dangerous so they weir traded of for black african american slaves. The slaves wouyld work in plantasion throught the day in the hot sun. If they ever tried to run away theire owner would usually cut of theire leg or foot enableing them to walk anymore. If a slave failed to complete a task for his "master" the punishment was VERY cruel.... sometimes even loss of hand or fingers. Beatings were given repeatly to slaves through out the day for nothing. Some slaves managed to escape to Canada... a land of freeom and peace.... they found the freedom they had longed for all theire lives. Of course Slavery was ended in the States but just in 2001 some collegues studying went to Sudane and there they still found plack slaves for sale ( from a muslum war all of the children and women) they purchase a child or a woman for 90$ each so as u can see there is still slavery around the world... may may all think its gone but its not. Slavery is DISCUSTING and why do this poor black slaves have to suffer sooo much?... just because of theire skin coloure isnt a significant answer. If u really think about it, back then the pets weire treated better then black slaves. A human being being degrated s000000000 much DISGUSTS me!!!!!!!!!!

Slavery began in prehistoric times and has been practiced ever since. The slavery of ancient times reached its peak in Greece and the Roman Empire. During the Middle Ages, slavery declined. Then, during the 1500's and 1600's, the colonization of the New World by Europeans resulted in a great expansion of slavery. Changing moral attitudes about slavery helped cause its decline during the 1800's. The United States abolished slavery in 1865. Today, slavery is illegal in almost every country in the world. But slavery still exists in parts of Africa, Asia, and South America.The enslavement of blacks in the American Colonies began during the 1600's. Slavery flourished in the South, where large plantations grew cotton, tobacco, and other crops. The plantations required many laborers. But slavery was less profitable in the North, where economic activity centered on small farms and industries . By 1860, the slave states had about 4 million slaves. The slaves made up nearly a third of the South's population.

No body actually knows for sure.But Caucasian people knew how to spell and do many other things but,the African Americans didn't. Caucasians thought because of that reason they could take control. The African Americans didn't Know better. Caucasians used African Americans as there cotton pickers,house maids, and to pull their wagons. The cruelty of the Caucasians was hated by those African Americans. They prayed at night so the masters and overseers couldn't see them.Thats when most of the slaves decided to escape(at night.) while they worked they would sing song and wish to know what it was like to free. I know many of these things because my great grandfather was one of those slaves.

Racial opression has its historical roots in the development of capitalism.Slavery came in 1700 and ended in the late 19th century. In order to plunder the gold and silver of the native americans and later to expropriate their tribal lands for the estb. of plantations to grow sugar, tobacco, and rice for the commercial export to europe, the european colonist terminated enourmous numbers of native americans. In a period of 50 years from their arrival in the new world, the spanish conquistadors exterminated 15 million native americans. Densly populated areas like cuba, haiti, coast of venezuela were copmpletely depopulated.European plantation owners faced an acute shoetage.The african slave trade came to the planters rescue."Black" slaves could be purchased cheaply and brought in large numbers.By keeping them scattered, ignorant and terrorised the colonial planters could keep the africans in perpetual subjugation..

Pregnant slaves were expected to continue until their child was born. Only a month's rest was allowed for recovery from child-bearing. The women then carried the child on their backs while they worked in the fields. In his autobiography, Frederick Douglass claimed that in the part of Maryland where he was born: "to part children from their mothers at a very early age. Frequently, before the child has reached its twelfth month, its mother is taken from it, and hired out on some farm a considerable distance off, and the child is placed under the care of an old woman, too old for field labor." Other slaves such as Thomas Johnson and Annie Burton claimed that their early life was very happy. Elizabeth Keckley started work as a child-minder at four whereas Josiah Henson and Isaac Mason ran errands and to carry water to the slaves working in the fields when they reached the age of five. Around the age of seven or eight, slaves would also be expected to work on the plantations.

if your wondering how the civil war started it started when our first president was elected the south didn't agree but the south thought that the north would make a military movement but when said he would not go to war but this place in called the arsenal I think was running out of food and thing's then our first president said that he would send food thing's the south thought that was a military movement so they made an attack on this place called the arsenal and the people that lived close to the arsenal came out to watch they thought they were watching fire works. you get it people okay I hope you liked it please vote for me okay I'll be checking okay alright good you smell like fish and you look like fish if you don't vote for me okay I know It's to much sorry. Slavery began during the 1400-1500 in Europe, which then spread all over the world. During the 18th century, most slaves were from the Caribbean or Africa. The majority of them were males, which spoke more than one language. As years go by, by 1830 men and women slaves were considered equal and many were born in America, which helped them learn how to speak in English. But that didn't�t change whether or not if they were citizens or not because they still remained constant in the lives as slaves which is working hard and oppression. (The Americans ch.3 pg 146) Throughout years, slavery has taken place even before the U.S. was combined together. The U.S. was separated into two which was the North and the South.

Slavery was because africans and others were bribed to sell their own people who could not afford to pay back debts or had comitted crimes to tradesmen, the tradesmen saw cheap labour then they went back to tell their people and then they started expeditions to africa nd elsewhere.Arabs profited the most from slavery more than the white people, i can't continue anymore because my heart is bleeding , bless all those enslaved as one person said before "you can change the frame but you can never change the picture" If you are not white you are still a slave to some sort of system or other.Just look at the history of religeons such as rastafarianisim and the desperation people were drove to to start to worship the first black man they saw of power H.I.M Emperor Hailie Selassie I , my heart will eternally bleed and i will never enslave another human being people are not their skin.Fire to all of those that mis lead jah's children!

THAT CAN INCLUDE BALCKMAILING,CALLING IN FAVOURS, THREATENTING OTHERS,AND WHATEVER ELSE. SELLING AND TRADING OF SLAVES STARTED IN THE EARLY 1600. IT WAS BECAUSE BLACK PEOPLE LIVED IN AREAS WHERE THERE WAS A ALOT OF HEAT AND SO THEY WORKED WELL IN THE TROPICAL AREAS WHERE THEY WERE TAKEN TO.YOU SEE THE WHITE PEOPLE COULDN'T WORK IN THOSE CONDITIONS AND THEY CAUGHT VIRUSES AND STUFF. This is how the world works.. everybody blames everyone... I'm African and I'm not going to lie about my people nor feel I should bash other races.. yes the Europeans had a part in our suffering but the truth about black slavery lies within ourselves. African kings had our own as slaves. They tortured them far worse than anyone else did. when Europeans came to Africa they came to trade materials not people but when they saw how these kings had so much control and power over their slaves they felt the need to have the same power and control.. after all when we all want something there is nothing stopping us from getting it.. I always in my heart feel for the suffering. But I will always despise the lies that cover the truth. God bless the world we are in great need of it.

slavery did not start with white people wanting to make africans do their work. it began when man realized they could use their surroundings and survive by farming. before this when different regions would fight they would kill their enemys. once they began farmning they would capture others and use them as labor in order to make profits and survive. whites had white slaves. agriculture advanced to the point where it was profitable to use slaves in great numbers on the land. sometimes people were enslaved as punishment, sometimes they sold themselves or their families to pay debt. slavery ended in many countries, check internet sources to get dates, but slavery still exists in some countries.

'oh~ slavery started because the whites hated the blacks'... or 'people wanted to give labor to their captives from wars'... >:( first of all, slavery never began with just the whites capturing the blacks. second, why would anyone think of making the captives to work for them when slavery hadn't even started (say... )?? anyways, there is no real answer, but to find out how the blacks became slaves were because england needed more slaves to work because of the "new land" (America)- they started out capturing the Indians (and many more), but they would run away, or didn't have enough stamina in them to work. Many had died from diseases, too. One day, i think it was the dutch people? had captured many blacks. And that's when it started. :) i hope i help you guys~^^*

Slavery existed before freedom even existed. Slavery is the result of social, cultural, intellectual, economic and religious factors. The books of the bible (for example: the story of Ham) condone slavery. Judaism and Christianity both condone it and therefore, it was never questioned. Hence, it became socially acceptable. It exists because there are differences among people. It's like the "Insider/Outsider" theory where you are different from me so I am going to perceive you different. Also, the social class plays a big factor. It defined you as a person. It exists because ideas have progressively grown and it exists socially because sometimes jobs were not socially acceptable for those of the middle class to partake in. This was especially the case in Ancient Rome when the people did not want to work and would never work in public service. Therefore, slaves were needed. Slavery largely exists due to economic considerations as well. Where there is a need for labour, you must go looking for it. Largely influenced by Africa, the US decided that they would invest in slavery for economic gain. There is nothing more lucrative than getting destitute individuals to do so.

I understand that the last submitted entry was long from now, but it is still on the internet search engines so I might as well express my opinion for others who are interested. I don't know exactly when slavery began, but I do understand that slavery has never ended. Slaver is still going on nowadays and modern slavery is getting even worse. There are approximately 27 million slaves in the world now, that's even more than any other time in history! The only reason why the number of slaves are increasing is because slaves are as cheap as $40 a person. Not only that, but merchandise nowadays are also more expensive and when slaves are cheap, the more money the owner receives for the slave work that being is done. These slaves are considered objects, or DISPOSABLE PEOPLE according to Kevin Bales, a wonderful writer and president of free the slaves organization (www.freetheslaves.com). Slavery is a horrible thing to talk about or even learn about. These human-beings are taken for granted and dehumanized by other people! Slavery now is not even a huge issue and not even expressed on the news or even expressed in top line newspapers! Slavery is ignored and that is another reason why slavery is increasing. It is ignored and hidden, there are hardly any people in the world today who even know that slavery still exists. No one knows that it is still around and no one is even stopping this horrible act. We all should educate others about the slavery world issues that are still occurring. We need to donate to wonderful charities that will donate into preventing slavery and stopping it (www.charitynavigator.com). We all need to understand that slavery still exists and we all CAN do something to help prevent this. Education, donation, fundraising, or creating an organization. Please help these people survive, save these people, and educate them. Help them understand that they have a reason to live, they have a soul that can do a lot in this world. Do something that can change the world.

In most cultures slavery has existed. In Africa one tribe would wage war on another tribe and then take slaves if they were successful.These slaves would be sold to other tribes and so would become displaced within just fifty miles from where they had previously lived. When Europeans began to explore the African continent, they were offered captives by several tribes, in exchange for guns, clothes, mirrors, etc. Almost anything available was for sale. Captives from other tribes were not of value; black man used and sold black man. They eventually became a commodity and the right sort of captive, or slave was sold for a very high price. Many European tribes had been under the yoke of the Romans long ago. They had enslaved the conquered people, serfs or peasants were little more than slaves. So having this prior history, it was no problem to carry it on in another part of the world. Slavery... as we know it had begun. As the Europeans had settled all over the world, practically, and had the finances to build massive slave (coffin) ships, they were able to transport captured people to places like Brasil, America, Hawian Islands, Canada, Jamaica and to South America. They did not need to use their African contacts and buy just a few people, but went directly into the interior and onto the plains, where the unsuspecting tribes people lived, often enslaving the whole village, except for the older people. Villages were found to be empty of people, when the slavers arrived, because they had been tipped off and uprooted themselves, marching the members of their village to a more remote and inaccessable area. This was extremely clever; you may lose possesions, but you kept your family together. People often went, at great peril, further into unchartered waters, in small canoes and settled down to a more uncomfortable existance. They must have missed their village, but what else was there to do? Slavery, as we know it had begun! The young Isabella of Spain, a no-so-good catholic, beleived that slavery was a marvellous business - how was that possible? Slavery exists today: in India, Pakistan, China and Saudi Arabia. Women from Rumania and Latvia were found in a brothel owned by a Russian in the UK. He owned those girls. Hitler made slaves of people and killed the ones he did not like; not just Jewish people. We need to learn from the past. People need education, to earn a living, raise their self esteem and challenge their governments. Religion can hold us back, but we should not let it close our eyes to wrong. We can often be just, we have the courts for that if we can afford to use them; but it is very hard to do right!

Slavery is disgusting. I can't believe that someone would take control of another human. I'm White but still. Hearing truth is always going to help the future. But any-who, Slavery start around 1750. when English men traded slaves for gold and furs, or anything that they needed or wanted. Slaves were brought to the southern states to work. Slaves also were beaten if they were no quick enough, had an accident, or even spoke back to their "MASTER". To have a "MASTER" is to be a dog. A.Americans are humans to.I just wish people that "owned" slaves could switch places with their slaves. Then it probably would have never happened.

Slavery has never ended, there is still slavery nowadays. People in Thai land would be a good example. the poor thai farmers are desperate to earn more money, so they send their daughters to factories to work. They are considered as slaves because they work day and night, almost non stop, and their living conditions are so bad that it is not acceptable. Another point would be because, owning a human is illeagal, so people no longer had to pay obligations and legal responsibility, which then pushed the prices of slaves so much lower that they don't even cost 100 dollars per month.

I think that Since the white folks helped ended slavery, then how come they can't help us HMONGS out of torture and slavery. The whites say that if we help them in the Vietnam War, they'll help us to freedom, but they bugged out, leaving us there getting killed and tortured. There is no definitive answer to this question, institutional slavery has been around from the dawn of mankind, however I do suspect that this is not the answer you are looking for, so try this one. In 1444 the Portuguese discovered a village of blacks in Africa, they attacked them and kidnapped as many as they could, they used their labour for profit, and that was the modern day foundation of what we all know of slavery. This set the stage for black slavery in the new world, and what is called the triangular passage from Africa to the New world, to Europe

Slavery started when the English went to search Africa in search for gold, furs, and other valuables that needed. Soon slaves were bought to the southern states to work. if they were slow or didn't do the work, they would get beaten.

I don't know when, why or how slavery started. I do know it did not start with black people. The Romans enslaved the less fortunate of their own society. Slavery has not ended. In many parts of the world it is still a very common practice. I have heard horror stories of Middle Eastern men of wealth tricking white American women into coming to their palaces for a "visit" and these women wind up as concubines in a harem with no hope of escape.

I know for a fact that black slaves was not the only slaves back in the day, there was some white slaves too. It also a fact that white slaves could sue their master, color slaves couldn't sue their master. If you want more information try to find a called Created Equal Volume 1.
