When she goes into heat is the only time she will breed. The signs she is in heat are swelling of the vulva and vaginal bleeding. Her teats may enlarge too. Before you breed make sure you have two, unrelated, healthy dogs that are up to date on shots and have been checked for diseases that are popular in this breed. Heats will last from 1-3 weeks but she will not breed for at least a few days into it until she is in full heat. Some dogs won't breed until up to 3 weeks into heat. Keep a male in the pen with her and he will know when she is ready to breed. She will breed with any number of males that will breed her during her fertile time so keep her completely enclosed from other dogs. They will come from miles around(literally) to breed her. The age a female will go into heat varies from 6-14 months of age. DO NOT BREED ON THE FIRST HEAT. Wait until she is at least in her second heat or two years old. Their bodies need to mature or there is a bigger possibility that there will be complications. Before you breed learn all you can about the breeding process, signs of pregnancy, how long she will be pregnant, pregnancy care, how to tell she is ready to have pups, what to expect in whelping, how to care for her and the pups, and how to sell them. Failure to do so often results in death, complications or unwanted pups. For the sake of your female please be prepared to handle anything that comes along. YOU WON'T REGRET IT!!! Good luck! You shouldn't breed a dog until she is about one and a half. The reason this is because she needs to mature. Her organs are not ready to be breed. For a male. Its basically the same thing. His organs are yet not mature till about one year old. I advise any one who is going to breed. Ask your vet to do some simple tests to see if the male or female has any diseases. That could be passed on to the pups. You might expect some to die or to come dead. About two weeks before the birth you want to start feeding your female puppy food. This is so the pups are getting the nutrition needed. Start feeding her extra food because all of her energy goes to making the milk. So if you are going to breed good luck to you.

When you have a female dog she will start to go into heat. This is the only time she can be breed. She has to be 1-5 years old if she is older than 5 it is very unsafe to breed her. One big reason is that she will be more liable to diseases that her pups could get and die. She will have her pups in 3 months. If not you should get vets help. You should start feeding her puppy food after 2 months. I recomend Ekumba, Purina,or Pedigree. When you have the pups you should wait until they are 8 weeks old to see the vet so they won't get sick. Know all the facts. Good Luck!!
