I do believe that the civil war was begun in June of 1861 and was at a haulting time in July of 1865.

The War Between the States began with the firing on Fort Sumpter by the Confederates on 12 April 1861 and ended with General Robert E. Lee's surrender at Appomattox Courthouse on 9 April 1865.

the civil war definately started on april 12, 1861 and it ended on april 6, 1865. for all those math idiots..that was 4 years.  the north lost 365,000 men and the south lost 260,000.

The civil war began April 1861 and ended in April 1865 when the Confederate surrendered. Twelve days after that President Licoln was assassinated.
