I was wanting some information on the King Charles Cavalier breed as to the amount of barking they do. Are they loud dogs and do they bark often?

Yes, the King Charles Spaniel, called the Cavalier, barks a lot, at people, animals, and birds. They can be very noisy.

I have owned many dogs over the years, and our cavaliers are the least noisy of any breed I know of! Although very playful and fun-loving, they are totally unlike most "yippy, yappy" toy breeds such as terriers. (No offense meant to terrier owners). Other cavalier owners I know have observed the same thing; the breeder I am associated with has seven cavaliers and I have yet to hear one of them make a peep! So, while Cavaliers are most certainly playful and curious, they are not noisy dogs.

I have to agree. My puppy barks at the tv sometimes and once in awhile and something he just discovered but he is very quiet for the most part.

cavaliers are a happy and loving dog. They only bark when people enter the house or when they are playing. They do shed but not a lot.

My 1-year-old Cavalier barks easily less than once a month. Typically she scares herself when she does it then runs and hides under the covers.

i just bought a cavalier prince charming? today!! and let me tell you... Hes so QUIET! the pet shop owner told us that these dogs rarely bark! god ive yet to hear him bark.. i even heard one fellow say that his cavalier barked about what 3 times? IN ONE YEAR!! yes... whats a dog if it doesnt bark??? i want my dog to bark.. but so far it hasnt happened yet.. any advice?

I have a gorgeous 6 month old cav and he barks at every sound imaginable. he barks at noises upstairs, outside, and heaven forbid if the doorbell rings, he charges up the hall ready to duck under a table if someone actually comes into the house. Sometimes he growls at people who are actually in the house...and he growls if he wants attention!!! He's great tho really.

my dog bailey rarely barks. however, she does growl when she scratches herself. she is the sweetest, most loving dog.

My cavalier barked once. We were both so surprised we looked at each other in shock and I haven't heard it since.

My Cavalier is 8 months old and she does bark. Sometimes at her own reflection in the window. If it gets too annoying, I just put her outside for 5 minutes to get it out of her system. Other than barking at her reflection, she is a perfect dog!!

they do shed but not too much and they are NOT heavy at all but it depends on how ya feed it
