    An e-mail user agent that can:

        handle whatever volume of mail you expect

        sort, select, and filter incoming messages

        send selected messages to other programs,
        or save them in a readable file format.

    A news posting agent that can:

        produce RFC 1036 compliant news articles

        accept messages from other programs,
        or read them from an e-mail file format.

        insert and delete message headers

        do other header mangling as needed
