-16- Can I use the serial port for HP printers with Impressario?
Date: 12 Jun 1997 00:00:01 EST No. Only builtin parallel ports (and in some cases, an HP JetDirect interface) can be used. Note that some older SGI systems do not have a builtin parallel port. The hinv(1M) command can be used to see if the system has a parallel port. Also, the 8-pin "serial" port on newer HP printers is *not* compatible with any SGI workstation or server. The port is used for LocalTalk connections to Macintosh computers.
