B5.1 Info Sources
B5.1.1 Tourism Board There is one. There is also the Visitor Information Network which has conspicuous black, green, and white signs including a large italic 'i' at the left hand end, throughout NZ cities/towns. -------------------- B5.1.2 Maps See the nearest branch of the Department of Survey and Land Information, or Department of Conservation. Bookshops are likely to have maps too. It pays to carry a light tent and be prepared to camp if travelling in the more popular places during the summer. Watch out for Giardia. Boil drinking water in areas known to be infected (ask at a DoC office) and FOLLOW the rules for waste disposal; we don't want it to spread...
