This toolkit, which first appeared in 1983, is a rich source of bitmap manipulation tools and source code. The toolkit is copyrighted, but distributable on a GNU-like license. The specification for the URT file format is found in the following document of the Utah Raster Toolkit: Design of the Utah RLE Format, Thomas, Spencer W., University of Utah, Department of Computer Science.
