There's also the new Make A Shorter Link service, which can turn

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0312244037/frequentlaskedqu

into

http://makeashorterlink.com/?U6FA22F5

It works only for HTTP and HTTPS URL's, though.
